Monday Leabank Square Gardeners Club

Today we had a great team of gardeners planting in the central garden!!!

Together we planted 300 flower seeds, 100 bulbs - and 1 rosemary bush!!!

How good is that?!?

Many thanks go out to Amy, Cyprus (even with a broken foot!), Denai, Sennur, Safiri & Shanthi for getting stuck in and planting all of that.

But thanks also to everyone who came out to say thanks to the gardeners - we even got a round of applause from Zoula. It really does make a difference to know that looking after the square is appreciated by everyone else!

(I hope I've spelt everyone's name correctly - please make a comment to correct it if it's not).

Oh yeah - and Sennur had a great idea.......

She suggests that we make it a regular Monday afternoon gardening event! Well - what does everyone else think?

Let's try it for the next few Monday afternoons - say 4.00pm (only if the weather is good!) - and that way everyone can have a snack after school & then come & join us.

If you want to see more pics from today - then go to:

But - hey!!! Thanks to everyone who turned out today - either to garden or give encouragement - we all had a great day!!

What a lovely idea. I live across the road from you in the Trowbridge estate.

Please can my daughter join you on Monay afternoons. We live on the second floor so we have no garden.

There are some raised flower beds in the common area between the blocks, but they are full of dog poo, so we don't want to plant there.

I will come with her every time and help out, I don't mind getting my hands dirty.

Will you also do this in the school holidays?

Hi Becca

Yes!!! Please come along any Monday afternoon with your daughter. You'll see us busy digging, planting, watering, pruning, tidying, etc all over the green.

It might be a good idea to change out of the school uniform as it sometimes gets a bit muddy.

Yes - we will be doing a lot more in the school holidays, including some arts & crafts days in the middle of the green - so please keep reading this blog for more dates.

See you Monday.

Go for it girl - you put all of us who just look at ALL your gardening through our windows - to shame.

I'm gonna stay anonymous in case my hubby reads this and makes me go down and join you lot.

The square looks fantastic since you lot started planting and things.

Thanks

Any chance of getting the olders involved in all this planting malarky?

I know my 2 are keen, they just haven't been asked yet.
